Dixon Lau was born in Hong Kong. He started his journey of learning about the arts and painting at an early age in the 1960s. He graduated at the University of Western Ontario and started his professional career in Canada. He migrated to Europe and then finally to the United States. He has studied art from local professional artists wherever he has lived. With the foundation of Chinese water-ink painting, he gradually extended to oil and western watercolor techniques within the last two decades.
Since the year 2000, Dixon has relocated to San Jose and begun his art career in California by joining many local art clubs and associations. He was spellbound by the beautiful weather and scenery of Northern California where he has presently chosen to create his home. Dixon's main focus quickly turned to landscape painting both en plain air and within his studio. With unlimited subject matter both inland and along coast that display different moods in different seasons, he has virtually no shortage of inspiration.
Dixon calls his watercolor paintings his dedication to California, the place where we call home. He is a noticeable award-winning artist. He has exhibited in major local art events since the year 2002. His work is already in private collections worldwide. His goal is to continually deepen his knowledge about California scenery and landscapes, to be inspired by other fellow artists, and to expand his ability to make a great contribution to the art community.
